Mary E. Daly is Professor Emeritus in Irish History at University College Dublin and President of the Royal Irish Academy. She is a member of the Taoiseach’s Expert Advisory Group on Commemorations, and the National Famine Commemoration Committee, a Governor of the National Gallery and a member of the Council of the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
She was educated at UCD B.A., M.A., and Nuffield College Oxford (D. Phil). She has held visiting positions in Harvard, Boston College and the EUI.
She was a founding director of the Humanities Institute of Ireland.
She has authored and co-authored several books and publications.
