Caroline Fahey is a social policy analyst with over ten years experience working in the Community and Voluntary sector. She worked with the Society of St Vincent de Paul between 2008 and 2019, as policy officer and more recently as Head of Social Justice and Policy with the organisation. As Head of Social Justice and Policy Caroline was responsible for leading the policy and advocacy work of the organisation, advocating on behalf of people experiencing poverty and social exclusion and developing solutions and policy proposals in a variety of areas, including child poverty, housing and homelessness, social welfare policy, low pay and in-work poverty.
Caroline has served on the board of a number of voluntary organisations, including the Vincentian Partnership for Social Justice and the Money Advice and Budgeting Service, and is currently a member of the Society of St Vincent de Paul’s National Social Policy Committee. She represented the Community and Voluntary Pillar on the National Economic and Social Council from 2011-2014 and has been a member of the Low Pay Commission since January 2019.
Caroline currently works as a social policy consultant, providing research and policy analysis for organisations in the Community and Voluntary sector, particularly in the areas of poverty and social exclusion. Caroline holds a Master of Social Science (Social Policy) from UCD and a BA (Mod) in Business and Sociology from Trinity College Dublin.
