Responsibility at Principal Officer, Head of Unit, level for Internal and EU Audit.
The Unit is staffed by civil servants, most of whom are professional accountants. The Unit is the designated Audit Authority for the two ERDF Regional Operational Programmes, the Peace Plus Programme 2021/27, the Just Transition Fund 2021/27 and the Internal Security Fund 2021/27.
The Unit is also the Independent Audit Body for the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Brexit Adjustment Reserve. In addition, the Unit provides a shared internal audit service to the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform and to the Department of Finance.
In addition to the normal line management reporting arrangements, the Head of Unit has direct reporting access to the Secretaries General (Accounting Officers) and the Audit Committees of both Departments on all issues pertaining to its audit role.
