Responsibility at Head of Division level for the Delivery of the 20-Year Strategy for the Irish Language 2010-2030, for implementation of official languages legislation, for language planning policy and legislation and language programmes both within and outside of the designated Gaeltacht areas. Also responsible for funding and governance arrangements in Údarás na Gaeltachta, for the Irish language at EU level and internationally, for Irish language Placenames, for North-South and East-West co-operation, which includes the work of the North South Languages Body (incorporating Foras na Gaeilge and the Ulster Scots Agency) and the British-Irish Council.
