Tara Coogan has responsibility at Principal level for Intellectual Property (IP), and for governance and oversight of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI). In relation to IP, Tara’s work includes policy and legislation in the area of IP that comes within the department's scope of responsibility, including the development and implementation of IP policy to provide an IP regime that facilitates creativity and promotes innovation to foster economic growth. The department’s IP Unit is responsible for Ireland's policy and legislation on IP domestically, at EU level and in terms of our international obligations. The IP Unit also liaises with the Intellectual Property Office of Ireland on behalf of the department. Tara’s work in relation to NSAI involves policy, governance and oversight, and Tara represents the department on the Board of NSAI.
