Protected Disclosures: statement relating to the period July 2014 to June 2016

Statement by: Michael Fallon, Head of Administration

The Protected Disclosures Act 2014 became operational on 15 July 2014. The Act provides a statutory framework within which Office of the Attorney General current or former staff members can raise concerns regarding potential wrongdoing within the workplace that has come to their attention, in the knowledge that they can avail of significant employment and other protections if they are penalised or suffer any detriment for doing so.

The Act specifies that the Office must publish, no later than 30 June each year, details relating to protected disclosures made within the Office in the immediately preceding year.

Consequently, I wish to formally report that in the period from 15 July 2014 to 31 May 2016 no protected disclosures were received from current or former staff within this Office.
