The Acute Hospital Preparedness Subgroup of NPHET was established on 3 March 2020 and met for the first time on 4 March 2020. Secretariat is provided by the Department of Health.
This subgroup of NPHET provides oversight and assurance on the preparedness of the acute hospital system to deal with a significant increase in hospital admissions, and that preparedness plans are in place and are being implemented across the public hospital system.
It is a multidisciplinary group with representatives from the Department of Health, Health Service Executive (HSE), National Treatment Purchase Fund (NPTF) and the private hospital sector.
