The PEACEPLUS programme , 2021 – 2027, provides vital investment to Northern Ireland and the cross-border region. This investment will protect and preserve hard-won peace and provide opportunities for building prosperity in the years ahead.
The programme represents a partnership in all respects, comprised of the European Union (EU), the Government of Ireland, the Government of the United Kingdom (UK) and the Northern Ireland Executive.
The Department of Rural and Community Development contributes 26% of the funding to the programme, which results in a gross commitment of €96 million. The remaining 74% is provided from the Northern Ireland and UK exchequer.
Under PEACEPLUS, 80% of payments are recoupable from the EU under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The Department’s net contribution, post recoupment of ERDF amounts, is €19.2 million.
