On 8 May 2018, Government approved the establishment of a Scoping Inquiry into the CervicalCheck Screening Programme, to be undertaken by Dr Gabriel Scally. The Final Report of the Scoping Inquiry into CervicalCheck was published on 12 September 2018.
The Minister of Health also requested that Dr Scally provide a supplementary report into certain further aspects of the laboratories. On 11 June 2019, the Minister of Health published the Supplementary Report of the Scoping Inquiry into the CervicalCheck Programme.
The Minister of Health established an independent Expert Panel Review of Cervical Screening as part of the investigation into issues relating to the CervicalCheck Screening Programme. The review was carried out by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. The purpose of the review was to provide women who participated in the national CervicalCheck screening programme and who developed invasive cervical cancer with independent clinical assurance about the timing of their diagnosis and treatment.
The aggregate report was published on 4 December 2019.

From September 2019 boys and girls in their 1st year of Secondary School will be offered the HPV vaccine as part of the school vaccination programme.
