The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment invites submissions in line with its Terms of Reference to inform the work of the Shannon Estuary Economic Taskforce.
The Shannon Estuary Economic Taskforce is being established to evaluate the economic development potential of the Shannon Estuary and surrounding area and to determine how this potential can be realised. The Taskforce is a direct response to a government commitment to establish local development plans to stimulate economic activity and innovation for those areas that were expecting economic development arising from new fossil-fuel infrastructure.
The Taskforce will examine the potential of the Shannon Estuary in terms of regional economic development and innovation across a number of areas including transport and connectivity, manufacturing, renewable energy, and tourism. The region’s infrastructural and investment needs will be examined as part of this.
In accordance with its Terms of Reference, the Shannon Estuary Economic Taskforce will:
To inform the work of the Taskforce, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment invites written submissions from the public and other key stakeholders setting out views on the economic development potential of the Shannon Estuary, as well as any investment and policy requirements to fulfil that potential under some, or all the following headings:
Submissions should be no longer than 1,500 words and should be submitted by email to shannontaskforce@enterprise.gov.ie
The extended closing date for receipt of submissions is 5pm, Wednesday 13 April 2022.
Responses will inform the work of the Shannon Estuary Economic Taskforce.
We are committed to engaging with stakeholders in a clear, open, and transparent manner. Any person or organisation can make a submission in relation to this consultation. All submissions and feedback will be considered by the Taskforce.
Please note that it is intended that all submissions received will be made available under the Freedom of Information Act 2014 (FOI) and as such may be published on our website.
