In accordance with the provisions of the Public Service Management Act, 1997, the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation is currently developing its Statement of Strategy for the three year period 2016-2019.
The Statement will comprise the key objectives, outputs and related strategies of the department during the period.
As part of this process, we are seeking any input, suggestions and views regarding strategic issues that might be reflected in the department’s Statement of Strategy.
The department’s areas of responsibility include:
The department is also responsible for coordinating the development of the government’s annual Action Plan for Jobs (APJ). The formulation and implementation of the APJ is an annual process to support the achievement of the government’s target of having 2.1 million people in employment by 2018.
In line with the Programme for Government, the department is placing particular priority on the stimulation of regional growth and our Regional Action Plans for Jobs, which were launched during the last year, are plans to ensure that up to an additional 15% are at work in each region by 2020, and that the unemployment rate in each region is within one per cent of the State average.
In order to enable full consideration of any inputs received, I would appreciate if replies could be forwarded by 30 September, in electronic format, to Cian Neville, Management Support Unit, at the following address:
