This consultation concerns the next iteration of the Renewable Transport Fuel Policy 2025-2027, involving the transition to renewable energy in transport and setting out a policy pathway for delivery of the 2030 transport targets set out in the Climate Action Plan as agreed by Government as well as the targets and requirements under the European Renewable Energy Directive.
The Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan TD, invites your views as to the priorities, choices, opportunities, and challenges set out in this consultation.

The themes covered in the draft policy statement relate to:
• Considerations for the development and implementation of the Renewable Transport Fuel Policy 2025-2027.
• Policy priorities for the next two years concerning the implementation of renewable fuel in transport.
• The Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation rates trajectory 2026-2030.
• Research needed to support the next phase of the policy.
Responses will be reviewed by the Climate Adaptation, Research, and Energy Division of the Department of Transport to inform the development of the Renewable Transport Fuels Policy 2025-2027.
• This is a public consultation, and the Freedom of Information Act 2014 and the Access to Information on the Environment (AIE) legislation apply.
• To ensure privacy, any personal information you give this department will be protected under the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 and the Data Protection Act 2018.
