The Climate Action Plan 2024 implements the carbon budgets and emissions ceilings for each sector of the economy, setting out a roadmap for action to halve Ireland’s emissions by 2030 and to reach net zero no later than 2050. In its Statement of Strategy 2023 – 2025, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media commits to making climate change a relatable social and cultural issue, which is central to the successful delivery of Ireland’s transition to a carbon-neutral society.
As part of the effort to achieve this goal, Minister Catherine Martin announced the development of a National Policy Framework on Culture and Climate Action in June 2023. The policy framework will set out the key ways in which cultural organisations can play their part in combatting climate change in the context of the national carbon emissions reduction targets. Since that time the Department has undertaken a review of the international evidence-base and an extensive phase of stakeholder consultation to support the development of the framework. To build on that engagement the Department is now embarking on a public consultation.
This survey is a key part of the consultation process, providing an opportunity for you to inform policy and help determine how DTCAGSM can best support climate action across the cultural sector.
Please submit your responses before 5pm, Friday 29 March 2024 via the online survey below.
We are aware that some participants may have had an issue with completing the survey. This has now been resolved.
DTCAGSM will only report on findings at an aggregate level. We will ask you at the beginning of the survey if you consent to having your data collected and stored. This will include quotes provided in any narrative responses. Any quotes used will not be attributable to any individual.
