The Department of Housing, Planning & Local Government is preparing an Irish Language Scheme in accordance with Section 11 of the Official Languages Act 2003. It is proposed that this Scheme will run for three years from March 2020.
The primary objective of the Official Languages Act is to ensure better availability and a higher standard of public services through Irish. It is anticipated that the new Scheme will build on and consolidate the progress made by the Department over the past number of years in delivering services through Irish.
The Department now wishes to invite representations in relation to the preparation of the new Scheme from all interested parties. Written submissions, preferably in electronic format, should be sent by Friday, 13 December 2019 to:
