On 1 February 2022, the Government launched a new national digital strategy, Harnessing Digital – The Digital Ireland Framework, to drive and enable the digital transition across the Irish economy and society. The Strategy seeks to position Ireland as a digital leader, driving and enabling digital transformation across the economy and society. It is set out across four core dimensions, which are in line with the four cardinal points of the EU’s Digital Compass: Digital Transformation of Business; Digital Infrastructure; Skills; and Digitalisation of Public Services, and this is supported by a modern, cohesive, well-resourced regulatory framework.
The Digital Connectivity Strategy is a sub-Strategy that is primarily focused on enabling the delivery of the Digital Infrastructure dimension. The Digital Connectivity Strategy sets out our ambition and the strategic enablers and initiatives needed to ensure the ambition level is met.
We have developed a draft Digital Connectivity Strategy and are now inviting comments and observations from interested parties on it. We welcome any supporting or reference information on any views shared.
The closing date for submissions has been extended to 5.30pm 8 April 2022
