Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme

Important notice re: Judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union of 2 October 2025

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal (CICT) have been advised that the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration will be shortly finalising amendments to the Scheme to make provision for damages for pain and suffering. This followed a decision by the government on 14 April 2026 to agree amendments to the Scheme.

It is intended that existing and new applicants to the Scheme will be contacted by the CICT Secretariat with an update on this matter as soon as possible.
