Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD, today announced that ten projects to promote organic production have been awarded total funding of almost €1 million per year for the years 2025, 2026 and 2027.
Minister Heydon said:
“Earlier this year I announced a call for projects to promote organic production in Ireland, in line with the European Organic Action Plan and Ireland’s National Organic Strategy 2024-2030. I want to thank all the applicants for the quality of the varied proposals that were received by my Department. The projects selected will help to meet the objectives of our National Organic Strategy. They cover a very broad area, from an organic academy which can provide training for agricultural advisors and entrepreneurs, to projects supporting farm walks and a national ‘Moreganic’ advertising campaign.”
Thirty-five applications were received for the call, which has an annual budget of approximately €1 million for the period 2025 to 2027, inclusive. Those who were unsuccessful, or didn’t apply to the call, are encouraged to take time to view the National Enterprise hub, at: https://www.neh.gov.ie/. This is the single source for all government supports for business, including those in the agri sector.
Minister Heydon concluded:
“I am particularly pleased that two projects from the horticultural sector were successful. Earlier this year, my Department hosted a conference highlighting the opportunities in organic horticulture. These two successful projects, from the Organic Growers of Ireland, will support the growth and development of the organic horticulture sector in Ireland. I want to wish all applicants well with their projects, and I look forward to seeing them have a real impact on the continued growth of the organic sector in Ireland.”
