Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue, and Minister of State with responsibility for Land Use and Biodiversity, Senator Pippa Hackett, today announced an extension to the deadline for submitting applications under phase 3 of the Soil Sampling and Analysis Programme to Friday 15 November 2024.
Making the announcement, the Minister said:
“In order to give farmers and advisors more time to prepare and submit applications I am extending the deadline for submission of applications under phase 3 of the Soil Sampling and Analysis Programme to Friday 15 November 2024. Soil sampling is the initial step to accurately determine the status and availability of nutrients in the soil. Information is key for farmers to make critical decisions on nutrient applications in order to produce grass or tillage crops in a sustainable manner."
Minister of State, Pippa Hackett has also welcomed the extension. Minister Hackett commented:
“This programme covers the cost of up to 16 individual soil samples per holding. I would strongly encourage farmers to apply, as soil sampling will ultimately help farmers to make more targeted management decisions and reduce their reliance on expensive chemical inputs."
The Soil Sampling and Analysis programme is open to farmers across the country and the full list of eligibility criteria can be found in the Terms and Conditions.
Applications can be made through www.agfood.ie and full details are available.
