Regulatory Review of Forestry

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine commissioned an external, independent review of Ireland’s forestry regulations following recommendations from Project Woodland working groups.

The result is “Project Woodland: Regulatory Review Report” by solicitors Philip Lee LLP.

The report was written independently of the Department.

The Regulatory Review analyses the regulatory framework that underpins forestry in Ireland and makes recommendations that could lead to efficiencies. It says Ireland must have a consent system (e.g., forestry licenses) in order for forestry to take place.

A full list of recommendations and analysis is found in the report.
