Research & Innovation for Sustainable Food Systems: Delivering on the Ambition of Food Vision 2030 event Friday 3rd June 2022
On Friday 3rd June 2022, over 120 delegates from across Ireland’s agri-food sector, higher education and civil society gathered at the Teagasc Ashtown Food Research Centre in Dublin, to participate in the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) and Teagasc co-organised seminar and workshop on Research & Innovation for Sustainable Food Systems: Delivering on the Ambition of Food Vision 2030.
On the day participants explored the central role research and innovation for sustainable food systems will play in delivering on the ambition of the Food Vision 2030 strategy. Martin Heydon, Minister of State with special responsibility for Research and Development, Farm Safety and New Market Development at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine delivered the opening address, followed by presentations from distinguished speakers:
- Professor Joachim Von Braun, Chair of the Scientific Group for the UN Food Systems Summit and President of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.
- Tom Arnold, Chair of the High-Level EU Committee in Food Systems Science, who have recently published the ‘Everyone at the table - Co-creating knowledge for food systems transformation’ report)
- Professor Ismahane Elouafi, Chief Scientist with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the UN.
