Sheep National Genotype Programme (SNGP)

SNGP assists flock owners in selecting breeding sheep that are less susceptible to Scrapie.

The commercial laboratories approved by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) to provide a blood testing service to determine the genotype of the sheep are listed below. The applicant may choose either laboratory, but if they wish to use a laboratory other than those on DAFM’s list for this service, the laboratory must be approved by the Department prior to the application. The cost of the service and the projected turnaround times for samples are to be agreed between the applicant and the laboratory of their choosing.
