Director of Forestry Plant Health and Horticulture

Director of Forestry oversees and coordinates the output of the three Forestry Divisions of the Department. The Director of Forestry reports directly to the Assistant Secretary General with responsibility for Forestry, Agri-Environment schemes and Structures,

The role includes:

  • overseeing the implementation of Project Woodland
  • development of a new National Forestry Strategy and a new National Forestry Programme
  • overseeing the administration of existing Department schemes on forestry
  • inputting to the development of new schemes including on interaction between forestry and agri environment policy
  • completion of National Forest Inventory and directly inputting to DAFM policy on climate, biodiversity and the environment
