How Children First helps to keep children and young people safe
As a child or a young person, you have the right to be kept safe from harm, and it is the responsibility of your parents and guardians, and other adults in your life, to make sure that they protect you.
Children First works to protect children and young people. It explains how everyone in society must work together to keep children and young people safe, including organisations, professionals, parents/guardians, families, and communities.
It shows everyone how to recognise child abuse and neglect, how to report it, and what they need to do to ensure that children and young people are kept safe.
Organisations and services working with children and young people must put in place child safeguarding statements, procedures, and training. This is to ensure that children and young people are protected from abuse when using the service.
Organisations and services should also explain to children and young people what they are doing to keep them safe, and who children and young people can speak with if they do not feel safe.
Changing Futures
Changing Futures is a website created by young people with experience of Tusla services. It offers advice and guidance to other young people who may have concerns or are unsure about something. The website also provides information about who you may meet in Tusla and the help and support available.
You can find out more by going to Changing Futures.
