Autism Innovation Strategy

The Autism Innovation Strategy aims to address the bespoke challenges and barriers facing autistic people and to improve understanding and accommodation of autism within society and across the public system. The Strategy contains actions that will be undertaken across Government to better support autistic people and their families. The duration of the Strategy will be 18 months.

The Autism Innovation Strategy will complement and enhance wider action on disability by focusing on areas where there are bespoke needs for autistic people.

The Autism Innovation Strategy addresses the following key pillars:

1. Autism-affirming society

2. Equality of access to public services

3. Accessible, inclusive communities

4. Building capacity

Extensive public consultation was done as part of the development process of the Strategy. This captured the views of autistic people, their families and organisations and professionals working to support autistic people. Additional work was done to survey difficult to reach cohorts such as children and non-speaking or minimally speaking autistic people. Reports on the results of this consultation can be found below.
