Children and young people

Introduction

As a child or a young person, you have the right to be kept safe from harm, and it is the responsibility of your parents and guardians, and other adults in your life, to make sure that they protect you.

This section provides information on how Children First protects children and young people. You’ll also find information about Changing Futures, a website created by young people with experience of Tusla services to help other young people.

How Children First works to protect children and young people

Children First works to protect children and young people by showing organisations, professionals, parents/guardians, families, and communities, how to recognise child abuse and neglect, how to report it, and what they need to do to ensure that children and young people are kept safe.

More information on how Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children and the Children First Act 2015 protects children and young people is available here.

Changing Futures

Changing Futures is a website created by young people with experience of Tusla services to help other young people. The website offers advice if you are worried about something. It also provides information about who you may meet in Tusla and about the help and support that is available.

You can find out more by going to Changing Futures.
