National Policy Statement on Electricity Interconnection 2018

In the early months of 2018, we held a public consultation on a draft policy statement on electricity interconnection.

We believe that structured, transparent public engagement and information sharing is an important part of policy development. In the case of electricity interconnection, it is important to clearly explain the policy drivers underlying the decision-making process for proposed interconnection projects.

That consultation process informed the development of the National Policy Statement on Electricity Interconnection.

This policy statement sets out the official overall perspective on electricity interconnection in Ireland and is designed to provide high-level policy guidance to all stakeholders, in particular to the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) as it considers applications from project promoters.
