The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Air Quality Index measures the number of atmospheric pollutants in the air and tells you the status of the area you are checking.

Pollutants include:

ozone
carbon monoxide
nitrogen dioxide and nitrogen oxides
sulphur dioxide
particulate matter
benzene
lead
PAH (poly aromatic hydrocarbons)
arsenic
nickel
cadmium
mercury
