Introduction
You can find information on building works for the construction, extension and refurbishment of schools on this page. Major works that cost over €1 million, and smaller transferred projects are included.
Major Projects
Additional Accommodation
The additional accommodation scheme makes sure that enough classroom accommodation is available for the amount of pupils enrolled each year. See information on the status of projects and how to apply.
Emergency works
The emergency works scheme provides funding for urgent works to schools that need resources as a result of an emergency situation, or to cater for special needs pupils who have enroled.
Remediation Programmes
Summer Works Scheme
The purpose of the Summer Works Scheme is to transfer funding to individual school authorities to undertake small-scale building works. Ideally these works should be carried out during the summer, or at other quiet times, to avoid disruption to pupils and school staff.
Third-level Building Projects
Third level building projects are managed by the Higher Education Authority (HEA).
School Building and Design Guidance
Guidance on design, technical matters, and mandatory procedures for school authorities and design teams involved in providing new or additional educational accommodation is available here.
Public Service Benchmark (PSB) for PPP Schools Bundle 1, 2, 3 and 4
The Public Service Benchmark is a key tool in the PPP procurement process. It is prepared in accordance with published government guidelines before the issue of a PPP tender.
