Central Policy Unit

The Central Policy Unit co-ordinates a wide range of cross-departmental policy issues for the department.

What we do:

  • co-ordination of an agreed programme of Value for Money Reviews assessments
  • support for the department's role in relation to various cross-departmental and internal policy issues
  • support the Data & Knowledge Management Unit in the management of a programme of work, incorporating projects in the area of evaluation and research, overseen by the department's Data, Evaluation and Research Management Board Sub-committee (DERMS)
  • current projects include:

1. forum on patronage and pluralism in the primary school sector

2. anti-bullying

3. consultation on school autonomy
