Corporate Services Unit

Corporate Services Unit is an internal support service managing resources for the achievement of the department’s strategies, ensuring compliance with a number of governance obligations and improving corporate policies, procedures and outcomes. It also has a co-ordinating role in standardising governance and accountability oversight across the education sector.

Corporate Governance:

• co-ordinate the implementation of corporate governance matters in order to effectively discharge the department’s statutory and policy obligations
• provide a point of contact for the Ombudsman, the Ombudsman for Children and the Coimisinéir Teanga

Sectoral Governance:

• co-ordinate and develop policies and procedures to implement a standardised approach to governance and accountability of bodies within the education sector

Accommodation and Services / Health and Safety:

• provide office accommodation and ancillary services across the department’s offices
• promote awareness of health and safety issues and support compliance with health and safety legislative requirements

Procurement Policy / Corporate Expenditure:

• develop and promote best practice in procurement in the department
• manage specific administrative expenditure in compliance with EU and national financial management and audit requirements

Customer Services:

• develop procedures and policies for provision of services to external customers, read more
