The Curriculum and Assessment Policy Unit (CAP) is responsible for the support of the development of overall policy relating to assessment, curricula and guidance.
What we do
- support of the development of overall policy relating to assessment, curricula and guidance at primary, junior cycleand senior cyclelevels
- provide syllabuses, specifications and guidelines for teachers, circulars to schools and prescribed material for the examinations
- provide financial and other supports to bodies such as State Examinations Commission (SEC), National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA), An Chomhairle um Oideachais Gaeltachta agus GaelscolaĆochta (COGG) and Post Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI)
- provide funding and support for standardised testing
- support the implementation of a number of strategies and polices, including the Literacy and Numeracy Strategy, Foreign Languages Strategy, National Strategy on Education for Sustainable Development in Ireland, 20 Year Strategy for the Irish Language and STEM Education Policy
