Social Inclusion Unit is responsible for developing and promoting a co-ordinated department response to tackling educational disadvantage.
What we do
- DEIS Delivering Equality of Opportunity In Schoolssets out the department’s vision for education to more fully become a proven pathway to better opportunities for those in communities at risk of disadvantage and social exclusion.
- Co-ordination of Traveller Education
- High Support Special Schools, Youth Encounter Projects (YEP) and Children Detention Schools
- Integration – migrant policy
- Home School Community Liaison Scheme (HSCL)
- Out-of-school education provision
