Information for schools – Ukraine

The government is committed to delivering a humanitarian response to welcome people fleeing the war in Ukraine and seeking protection in Ireland.

People are arriving to Ireland from Ukraine every day, many of them children.

Already, many schools have welcomed children and young people from Ukraine that have arrived seeking enrolment. The swift response and welcome from school communities is greatly appreciated by the Minister.

This is an evolving situation and the department will continue to communicate with schools and education partners on this important issue.

The department has put in place a system of Regional Education and Language Teams hosted by the 16 regional Education and Training Boards (ETBs) to support the education needs of children from Ukraine arriving in Ireland.

A core function of the REALT is to help families to find a school place. This work involves working with the families, school principals and communities to locate school places, providing relevant information as well as signposting to supports across the system.

Щодня до Ірландії з України приїжджають люди, серед яких багато дітей.

Багато шкіл уже прийняли дітей та молодь з України, які приїхали з бажанням зарахуватися. Міністр високо цінує швидку реакцію та вітання шкільних громад.

Це змінюється ситуація, і найближчими тижнями департамент продовжуватиме спілкуватися зі школами та освітніми партнерами.

Міністерство запровадило систему регіональних освітніх та мовних команд, які працюють у 16 регіональних радах з освіти та навчання (ETBs), для підтримки освітніх потреб дітей з України, які прибувають до Ірландії.

Основна функція REALT – допомогти сім’ям знайти місце в школі. Ця робота передбачає роботу з сім’ями, директорами шкіл та громадами щодо пошуку місць для шкіл та організації шкільного транспорту, де це необхідно.
