Periodic Critical Reviews

The Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies requires that non-commercial public bodies be subject to a Periodic Critical Review (PCR) no later than every five years. In line with the Code, the Department of Education undertook a PCR in relation to the Teaching Council

The scope of the review included the extent to which the Teaching Council is fulfilling its statutory mandate and the appropriateness of its legislative framework into the future. It also examined changes in the Teaching Council’s external environment, the effectiveness and efficiency of its governance, executive and wider organisational structures, and its organisational performance and delivery.
