What Incremental Credit for Teachers and Special Needs Assistants is

Incremental credit may be awarded to qualified primary or post-primary teachers in recognition of relevant teaching and non-teaching service and to qualified special needs assistants for relevant experience for the purposes of progression on the incremental salary scale.

Amendments to the Scheme for the award of incremental credit to registered teachers at second level. All applications from teachers under Circular 0029/2010 must be made within two years from the date of return to teaching service in ROI.

Special Needs Assistants

Forms must then be forwarded to the previous employer for the service to be verified.

In the case of a claimant who is employed in a primary, secondary, community or comprehensive school, the previous employer must return the form for processing to:

If the claimant is employed in a Education and Training Board (ETB), the previous employer must return the form for processing to the Chief Executive Officer of the relevant ETB by which the claimant is currently employed.


Appeals

Qualified primary and post-primary teachers may appeal a decision to limit or refuse a claim of incremental credit for relevant non-teaching service to an independent appeals committee. The appeal application must be made in writing to:
