Accreditation Regulation

Our Safety, Health and Chemicals Policy Unit acts as a liaison mechanism between the Department and the Health and Safety Authority, including in the context of the additional responsibilities regarding accreditation regulation in Ireland, assumed by it following the integration of the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB), into the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) with effect from 31 July 2014.

INAB is the sole national accreditation body for Ireland as appointed under Regulation (EC) 765/2008. The provision of the accreditation service for Irish enterprise is operated by the INAB Executive and Board with the support of externally contracted expertise.
