The Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation invites submissions to a public consultation on the transposition of Directive (EU) 2017/828 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 May 2017 amending Directive 2007/36/EC as regards the encouragement of long-term shareholder engagement.
The revised Shareholders’ Rights Directive was published in the Official Journal in June 2017. The Directive, which must be transposed by 10 June 2019, aims to encourage transparent and active engagement by shareholders of listed companies by revising the current Shareholders' Rights Directive 2007/36/EC.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, 9 February 2018.
