The Department of Finance has a culture and history of central provision of services – it has always provided payroll and accounting services to other departments and offices and a central pension payment service.
The Department has 70 staff, based in Tullamore, providing a range of accounting, banking and payroll services to government departments and offices. On an agency basis, the department makes wage/salary payments to 3,000 employees of 15 clients in central government and State agencies, and pension payments to 28,000 ex civil/public servants and office holders.
We provide the full suite of accounting and financial management and control services to five Votes, and certain accounting services to three other Votes.
