The Financial Advisory team provides research and input to policy options across the Department. It is the lead outreach and co-ordinator for the Department’s Virtual Assets and Blockchain Technology Working Group.
Blockchain & Virtual Currencies Working Group
On the 22 of March 2018, the Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe TD announced the creation of an internal working group (the Intra-Departmental Working Group) to monitor further developments in the areas of virtual currencies and blockchain technology. This follows the Department of Finance's active research into virtual currencies and the blockchain ecosystem that exists in Ireland, Europe and globally. Institutional Investment in Private Capital
On June 12th 2019, Investments and Pensions Europe (IPE) and the Department of Finance co-hosted an event in the Stephen’s Green Hibernian Club titled ‘Institutional Investment in Private Capital’. The event was curated for senior Irish pension fund managers and asset managers to learn about how international and domestic investment managers invest in private capital asset classes such as: private equity, private debt and venture capital.
