Minister Fleming welcomes the High Court judgement on the Personal Injury Guidelines

The Minister of State in the Department of Finance with responsibility for Insurance, Seán Fleming, today (2 June) welcomes the judgment of the High Court on the personal injury guidelines.
Commenting on the judgment, Minister of State Fleming stated:
“I welcome the judgement upholding the Judicial Council’s personal injury guidelines. This is an important step which will have a lasting impact on the price of insurance premiums. Personal injury claims need to be processed promptly in line with these guidelines.
“I have met with the Chief Executives of all the major insurance companies and I’m calling on them to pass on savings arising from the implementation of these guidelines to their customers. Ensuring consistency of awards and reducing litigation are a priority for the Government, as they are a major driver of insurance costs."
