CUAC Report Implementation Group

Publication of the Credit Union Advisory Committee's (CUAC) Report in July 2016 was the beginning of a process.

From September 2016, onwards, CUAC continued working with the Department of Finance to devise a coherent implementation plan.

Recommendations in the report relate to tiered regulation, Section 35, consultation and engagement with the Central Bank, governance, restructuring, business model development and miscellaneous topics.

These topics include the common bond, credit union loan interest rate and voting matters.

The CUAC Report Implementation Group consists of one member from:

  • The Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU)
  • Credit Union Development Association (CUDA)
  • Credit Union Managers' Association (CUMA)
  • National Supervisors Forum (NSF)
  • Credit Union Advisory Committee (CUAC)
  • the Central Bank

The implementation group is chaired by the Department of Finance. The group has been meeting monthly since February 2017.

The group has submitted two papers to the Central Bank in November 2017

It is currently preparing a paper on Tiered Regulation.
