EU-US trade structure and risks

Working paper 694 EU-US trade structure and risks

Research conducted as part of the Joint Research Programme of the ESRI, Department of Finance and Revenue Commissioners on the Macro-economy, Taxation and Banking. The research examines the impact of recent import tariff increases by the US and the EU in response to a long running trade dispute regarding airplane production.

The paper examines the potential direct exposure to Ireland and other countries across the EU of increases in US and EU import tariffs. This is done by matching product level trade data to import tariff schedules published in June 2020 by the US and in November 2020 by the EU.
