Our Mission
The Department’s mission is to lead in the achievement of the Government’s economic, fiscal and financial policy goals, having regard to the commitments set out in the Programme for Government - Securing Ireland’s Future.
Our Values
Our core values guide our behaviour, our decisions and actions. They are central to our shared sense of purpose as both employees and civil servants.
The values of integrity, impartiality, inclusion, respect and accountability are core to the Department. These shared values drive our behaviours and define the culture that supports the delivery of our strategic goals.
Our Strategic Goals
In pursuing our Mission, the Department is working for the period 2025-2028 towards achieving the following Strategic Goals:

- Sound Public Finances
- Well regulated, sustainable banking and financial sector
- International leadership in economic, fiscal and financial decision making
- Promoting environmentally sustainable economic progress
- An organisation with a shared sense of purpose where our people are valued, supported and empowered to deliver on our strategy
