Tánaiste holds series of trade meetings with European counterparts

The Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Harris, today held a series of trade meetings with European counterparts.

The Tánaiste hosted a visit from the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, Gordan Grlić-Radman in Iveagh House this afternoon, following phone calls with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, and separately with the Minister for Foreign Trade of the Netherlands, Reinette Klever.

During the meetings, the Tánaiste emphasised the importance of the European Union working closely together in a “calm, strategic and measured fashion” whilst continuing to engage positively with the United States.

“How Ireland and the EU respond to the coming days and weeks won’t just impact the months and years ahead but our economic model and wellbeing for the next generation,” the Tánaiste said following the meetings.

The series of bi-laterals also focussed on the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“As like-minded partners across many areas in the EU, I was pleased to have the opportunity for discussions with Croatian, Danish and Dutch colleagues today on the shared challenges and opportunities we face at the present moment. During all calls we agreed on the importance of European solidarity.”
