On Tuesday 5 April, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney, welcomed his Montenegrin counterpart, Foreign Minister Đorđe Radulović, to Iveagh House, on the occasion of Minister Radulović’s visit to Ireland to attend this week’s Global Diaspora Summit being held at Dublin Castle.
Minister Coveney said:
"I am very pleased to welcome Foreign Minister Radulovic on his first visit to Ireland. Montenegro is an important partner in the Western Balkans and a front-runner in terms of its EU accession prospects. It was very valuable therefore to hear the Montenegrin perspective both on the current war in Ukraine and its wider impact on developments in the neighbouring Western Balkans region."
The Ministers discussed the excellent state of bilateral relations between Ireland and Montenegro and exchanged information on developments in Ukraine, EU enlargement and the overall situation in the Western Balkans, as well as Ireland’s priorities on the UN Security Council.
Foreign Minister Radulović met with Minister of State for the Diaspora, Colm Brophy, for a bilateral meeting at the Global Diaspora Summit visit on Monday.
