Minister Lawless to address the Teachers’ Union of Ireland Annual Congress 2025

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science James Lawless will address the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) Annual Congress, tomorrow (Tuesday 22 April).
The Minister will highlight the importance of reform in the higher and further education sector and reflect on the achievements over the last five years:
"Since the department was established in 2020, we have reduced costs and created new and diverse pathways for learners; increased access; secured increased funding year on year; and pushed ahead with institutional change in the technological sector as well as plans for FET transformation."
The Minister will also highlight the importance of continuing to develop the higher and further education sector given the global challenges that Ireland faces, saying:
"It’s not reform for the sake of it – it is reform to support individuals, and wider society in the face of an uncertain future."
