Dolores Keane

Dolores Keane is practicing barrister with over 20 years experience specialising in Medical Law.

Ms Keane advises and acts for a wide range of clients and has been involved in complex medical cases covering a wide range of specialities, dealing with issues of liability, causation and damages. Ms Keane appears in the Circuit, High and Court of Appeal, the Coroner’s Court and before professional regulatory bodies in fitness to practice hearings.

Ms Keane chair’s Mental Health Tribunals for the Mental Health Commission and deals with input from psychiatric professionals and tribunal lay members, chairing the process and drafting decisions.

As a past President, Treasurer and Secretary of the Medico-Legal Society of Ireland, Ms Keane has brought together experts and practitioners, from Ireland and abroad, to explore medico-legal issues, considering implications from multiple perspectives with a view to better understanding key issues in both their medical and legal contexts. During her tenure as President, she oversaw the development and delivery of an annual programme of lectures for members and two Academic Days for the broader medico-legal community on issues surrounding vulnerable adults and health economics.

Ms Keane has also spoken on a variety of medico-legal topics to a wide range of both medical and legal audiences, including bar associations, medical device companies, university postgraduate students, and at a variety of seminars and conferences.
