Dr Mark Roe is currently a senior researcher at Vhi Healthcare. Here he designs and tests the appeal, usability, and effectiveness of patient-centred services.
Dr Roe completed his doctoral studies at University College Dublin in sports-related epidemiology. His research focused on using health surveillance systems and digital health platforms to identify trends, risk factors, and clinical outcomes for musculoskeletal injuries.
Dr Roe also completed his postdoctoral fellowship in public health. This involved a partnership with the HSE to inform national COVID-19 policies by understanding factors leading to large scale outbreaks and super-spreading events. His research also focused on promoting community-centred solutions for improving acceptance and uptake of health services.
Dr Roe has lectured on undergraduate and postgraduate modules at the UCD School of Medicine, UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy, and Sports Science, as well as the UCD Innovation Academy on research methods, epidemiology, and healthcare service design.
Dr Roe has published multiple articles in peer reviewed journals and national newspapers and delivered keynote presentations at national and international conferences.
