Dr Mohamed Elsammak is the Director of the Newborn Screening Laboratory in Ireland and is a consultant paediatric chemical pathologist in Temple Street Children hospital, Dublin.
Dr Elsammak got his medical degree and the master’s in chemical pathology from Alexandria University of Egypt. He also has masters in Immunology and Allergy from the University of Nottingham, where he also completed his PhD in in Clinical Laboratory Sciences (Immunology).
Dr Elsammak has almost 25 years of experience as Consultant Chemical Pathologist and has worked as a consultant Chemical Pathologist in King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, where he established the newborn screening and the metabolic service in the Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia.
He is a trainer with the Royal college of Pathologist Ireland (RCPI).
Dr Elsammak has a particular interest in newborn screening and metabolic disorders and he frequently lectures undergraduate and postgraduate students in chemical pathology and newborn screening.
