Appointment to the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland - 22 November 2023

Following a Public Appointments Service campaign, the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has appointed the following member to the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland with effect from 13 November 2023 until 12 November 2027.

Richard Hammond

Prior to Richard commencing a traineeship enroute to qualification as a solicitor, he was a member of the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (now Quality & Qualifications Ireland), during the year in which the National Framework of Qualifications was adopted and launched. As a representative of the interests of students, he was actively involved in the creation of the framework and was focused primarily on cohesive progression through the levels with quality control by design inculcated from the outset. Richard was also a member of the Higher Education Authority, during the period when it was tasked with designating an institution to host a second publicly funded pharmacy course. This work involved many hours of reviewing submissions from higher education institutions before determining which institution was to be awarded the right to host the course, expanding the availability of pharmacy to Leaving Certificate students.

The Council of the Law Society of Ireland appointed Richard as a member of its Education Committee in 2014, of which he has been Chairperson since 2021.
